Something about a late night thunderstorm that is just perfect for a good nights sleep. Now here in the middle of tornado ally you have to make sure first that is all it's going to be so you can enjoy it all.
The light thunder that you hear in the distance as it is coming your way. The beginning of the rain outside as it starts to slowly drip off the roof and continuously gets heavier and heavier. Your sitting there calmly and suddenly jump out of your skin with that huge big clap of thunder as the atmosphere above you bumps into each other and protests. The lights flicker but thank goodness stays on.You hear the rain hitting the metal roof of the house and you know it's just pouring and coming down in waves of intense wetness. No hail which is common here in Oklahoma this time of year. The thunder continues to rumble loudly as it stomps it's way through the area but as it travels through you can also hear it is fading and going on through to the east heading towards Nikki's house. As with many storms it is probably going to the far eastern part of Oklahoma passing on into Arkansas to soak my other daughter Allexcia that I am sure has had plenty enough wetness which is also very normal for Arkansas.
The noise is pretty much gone now. I just hear rain pouring off my roof in a steady way now. Above the constant shedding of the rain from the roof I hear the rain coming in sheets one second then calming to only hearing the occasional rain off the roof. If I wait a few minutes it seems to start the cycle all over again just without all the racket. From the occasional drippy roof back to pouring out of a huge bucket in the sky in waves to fading to nothing and eventually totally disappearing leaving us to go grace someone else with the sounds for good sleep.
The ground outside will be soaked good in the morning. Puddles will be found. All the dust and dirt will be washed from the trees, weeds and cars. The grass will have a different brighter color green for the cows to enjoy chomping and constantly eating and mowing the pasture.
Any trip to town will for sure reward you with a truck that looks like it has been dipped in a chocolate vat at least up to the door handles. Leaving ruts everywhere in the road and even using 4 wheel drive you just cuss the road and the mess it's making on your vehicle that was clean when you looked out the window at supper time the night before.
Well here comes another pouring rain...... it's now 1:36 AM and I am for sure ready to go back to sleep to the wonderful sound of mother nature lulling me to sleep once again.
Love
