      I was watching the news about a young woman that had provided 90 or more birthday parties delivered to kids in a group home situation that would otherwise not get to have a birthday celebration. Some had never ever even had anyone celebrate their birthday.
     That news program gave me a idea. I know how aggravated I get when all these 61 years I have made sure my family get a birthday cake celebration yet I have only had one time when a friend actually surprised me with a cake years ago. Lead by example doesn't always apply to mama's getting what is given as we all know. LOL Just think if you are a mom and you can not even afford the simplest of acknowledgement to your child like most kids in the world of how wonderful they are with a Birthday Party of any kind.
   So I went to the nearest Dollar General store and I bought most everything you would need to make a simple birthday celebration. The coloring and design of everything needs to be generic as far as it can apply to boys or girls. I wanted to have a sack that would fit the 9X13 pan, a cake mix, small bottle of oil since most require that, frosting, candles, a birthday card and birthday cake plates, sprinkles because all kids and many grownups love sprinkles!
     Now something that is more important than you may realize is to use name brand things for the cake mix and frosting for sure. I know someone that shops store brands in all their cooking. One day one of their kids was at my house and opened a cabinet to see I had store brands. Boy you should have heard him! LOL Wow! She uses name brands instead of the cheap junk ! Not only did my value go up in their eyes my food was instantly better tasting! So Funny! We don't think of those things until someone like a kid points it out. So if you get name brand cake mix and frosting it will make the cake taste so much better to some of these little folks.
     Another thing I have found out, it's hard to find good birthday candles where I shop. It's like they are all cheap and by the time you get to the last candle the first ones are half way melted! So be careful what you buy there.
     You can add to or change up this Birthday Cake Bag. I think one cake mix for a 9x13 pan makes for a skinny cake 2 is always better. You can also find the aluminum cupcake pans and cupcake liners to go with them or send 2 aluminum 8" round pans. You can add the candy Happy Birthday letters for the top or provide the whole birthday themed cups, napkins, forks and plates.
     That whole bunch of stuff was $11.78 + whatever 10% tax is for that. Now if we had a Dollar Tree handy I could have saved $3.78 on the total bill. If your a mama wondering how your going to get gas for your car to get to work or lunch money for your kids or pay a utility bill that is a lot of money if you don't have enough to go around in the first place. For those of us more fortunate it isn't anything.
     I plan on donating this Birthday Bag Kit to the nearest Church Food Pantry if they want it. This can also be given to any other place that hears of Mama's that can't do the simplest of things like a cake for their child. It could even be given to schools that deal with children like the counselors maybe that are unhappy because they can't get their parent a birthday present but are able to "bake a cake for their present".
    It is the simplest of things like this growing up that make a big difference in a person of any age and how they feel about themselves and the world. If something like donating a Birthday Cake Bag can make such a big impact on the people around us and all our futures living with these folks ...... Why Not ?? Making the world a better place starts with the folks and community around us. The happier and more complete people are the better everything is in the future.
    I hope this gives other folks a boost in this direction to do something like this in your area. I have never done anything like a charity Go Fund Me page or whatever internet things are like that out there but I think I will look into it.
