We live far enough out we don't get trick or treaters. That is until I call the grandkids to come on down. The great pumpkin was really busy in the kitchen and made a HUGE MESS.
The great pumpkin made some really good pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and Halloween sprinkles . Then there was some caramel apples he had to find a genius way to wrap without getting too sticky and stuck to the wrap. There was pumpkin cut out cookies with bat and ghost orange and black sprinkles. Then those cute little ghost cookies with funny expressions. Each got a bag full with some added gushers.
It was funny. Dyer was looking in her bag and I was telling her what all the great pumpkin had in there and she kinda sorta listened. Then the last thing I said was he added some Gushers in also. Welll..... she said GUSHERS!!!!! And dove in. Gushers is what grandpa started giving them when they stop by some days. So having that in there must have been the best thing of all.
Nikki had her kids all dressed up in Raggedy Ann and Andy costumes I think their great grandma Betty made for them. They looked really cute and had all kinds of fun with those red wigs on. She sent me a snap chat of Dyer shaking her red locks around getting a kick out the long hair since her little 3 yo head has limited hair still. Funny to watch she would get going and the wig would go here and there and then she would try to straighten it all up when it's all over face and she can't see.
Kingston the boy was just all boy....... it's chow it's candy dive in. I was telling him about the great pumpkin leaving a mess in my kitchen and he said WHY? I told him because he had to hurry up and leave to help someone else in their kitchen. He said with a concerned look on his face..... and a cute little speak impediment ...."Is the great pumpkin mean?" I assured him NO! He was just busy and had to hurry.
I had to go to town on the day when the town merchants and churches get together and hand out candy to all the trick or treaters young AND old. Main street had a cop car and lights on to slow people down on each end of the main street about 6?? Blocks maybe. I was really disappointed. I had to go through town to get somewhere and I was hoping to see some of the costumes but it was just cold enough everyone had to wear coats and jackets and you really couldn't see anything. Even though I was going supper creepy slow it was still so dangerous with tiny kids on each side of the street trying to get to the next hand out. Even with adult supervision and some being pulled in wagons you just knew any second someone was going to cross the street in front of you and get hit.
When I left town to go home I took the back streets so I wouldn't have to worry about hitting any goblins.
I saw Nikki later that night when they came to trick or treat the house and she looked wayyyyy to tired. She said she walked and pulled the wagon with both kids in it up one side and down the other then went on one of the main side streets to the park with more things going on and people everywhere. Then she went across the street to the funeral home parking lot and helped the church hand out some stuff. I'm not sure what but she did help the church wrap caramel around a few 1000 apples for the kids some maybe that was it. She was really ready to be home and done with the day for sure!
I had given her and her hubby a great pumpkin bag also. The great pumpkin didn't have a pumpkin cupcake for her so she got extra other things I told her. Well she reached into hubby's treat bag and snitched his extra large pumpkin cupcake! She said he won't tell him. She for sure needed a boost after that long day. She was sitting in the floor with the kids. She finished her cupcake and put the wrapper and box it came in aside. Next thing I know Frosty dog is over there liberating the wrapper to finish any leftovers off. LOL She doesn't ever do things like that! Seems like she was getting into the spirit of trick or treat also.
Love
