Classic American Goulash

American Goulash

Man O Man! Doesn't this look really good. I saw this and it just hit my eyeball taste buds something fierce! I don't normally have tomatoes or bell pepper around but I do have some canned tomatoes that will work. Gonna have to pick up the bell pepper sometime in town.
I remember my daddy would make this for supper when my Mama worked nights at Dixie Cup in Fort Smith, Ark. Now it wasn't like this really. I didn't know there was actually anything called Goulash it was just a mixed up mess of whatever was on hand best I could tell. Now my daddy wasn't a cook like a lot of men these days but 54 years ago he could do pretty good. Of course it was never the same every time. It was good and I sure as heck didn't know any difference! LOL
I learned something new about my Daddy the other day talking to one of my brothers. He is 8 - 10? years older than me so can remember somethings better. Brother Richard is my 1/2 brother from my mama's first marriage. He said my Daddy always had a project of some kind going on. He was always doing something with the horses, or building something or just busy projects in general. I told hims SO THAT"S WHERE I GET THAT FROM!!!! I had no clue! Cool! He died when I was about 20 yo? I had to get him to the hospital with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and I had to be the one to tell them to unplug him when it was time. A 20 yo. making that kind of decision on her own? It was the best thing at the time but no clue how I was able to make that correct decision. It was just the thing to do and I knew it.
Well anyway, So now I know why I always have 15 or more things going that I am working on as far as projects of all kinds. From planning the holiday dinners already, what kind of Christmas Tree this year and presents, to trying to guide and encourage the local people to grow food and sell locally in large quantity, and showing people how to store long term foods. Then there are the children's books I am putting together for the 2 youngest grandkid's all about their families with pictures of all the grandparents and their "real " name not just granny and papa and some pictures with captions of them doing things only silly 2 and 3 yo.'s can do! LOL I'm still also fine tuning recipes and learning how to ship and package them including making decorated / painted cookies. Oh my goodness! I have so many irons in the fire! LOL I love it!

Ok getting back on subject here.  This would be a good recipe to feed a crowd of people for any reason. Simplify Christmas or Thanksgiving this year.  Whether it be family and friends or setting up a soup kitchen for hurricane victims or homeless people in general.

Here is the link to that tasty looking pot of messy food.

Classic Goulash with ground beef, bell pepper, onions, and macaroni simmered in a seasoned tomato sauce, is ready in 45 minutes in one pot!

What is American Goulash?   ( I didn't know there was a difference either LOL)

American goulash is a traditional mid-west dish to serve for dinner or take to a potluck. It’s made with really easy and available ingredients like pasta, ground beef, tomato sauce, and onion. You can also add some minced garlic or paprika to your American goulash, even though paprika is not traditionally used in this version.

American goulash is different from Hungarian goulash because the Hungarian goulash version is more like a stew made with ground meat, paprika, and sometimes additional vegetables and potatoes. Hungarian goulash is also referred to as Gulyas. Gulyas basically translates to cowboy in Hungarian, which is the perfect candidate to eat goulash soup.

You can make it traditionally with a pot on the stove and has directions for both

Have fun with your own version or feeding a crowd this holiday season.

Anniversary

OCTOBER 4TH A DAY IN HISTORY!

I know this looks more like a Halloween football jersey but honestly it's a refrigerator cherry cheesecake!
The 47 is for how many years we have been putting up with each other for.

Everyone seems like everything is just another day. Like there isn't anything special about anything any more. I can't handle that every day is like just another day! Hell' s Bells folks ! Now days people have trouble staying together 47 minutes much less YEARS! lol
We have done a lot together. Sometimes I feel like we haven't done anything fun. We have never traveled the world or had a water boat life or played every weekend like a lot of folks.
It's always been work, raise a family. Make good plans and try to dodge the monkey wrenches tossed our way. Along the way we have raise 2 terrific humans. Only one has made it this far along the ride with us where the other gets to watch from above. We have some older grandsons and some newish grand kids. We have added folks into our family that may not be blood family but still every bit as much as family. We have also been lucky enough to be able to do the same in joining other folks as family.
The other day I was thinking I haven't done anything great and wonderful or at least I felt that way.  GOD told me you have done the most important thing...... raised a family. When you get down to it he's right....... it's all about family and love for everyone around you.
One time I was visiting someone or something and Nikki said....." You really do love everyone don't you!"  I told her I try real hard but sometimes it just don't work.  But I really do try.
GOD gave me hubby and did a good job. He has spoiled me rotten! LOL I have a hubby that has never been mean to me, he pretty much gets me anything I want. Maybe not as quick as we used to do but give me time and he spoils me still. I have never had to have a house with wheels, he doesn't have to have a man bun or a man purse! LOL He has always been faithful. Never ever even a suspicion of cheating. We have even had a sports car to play in before dirt roads. Always as good as he knows how to be.  Now I have to admit there are sometimes we might get cross eyed with each other but nothing super big like some folks.
When we were much much younger in our marriage maybe 5 years??? He said one time in a mad storm he would just leave me ! I told him well open the damn door a little wider and I'll be right behind you! LOL That's pretty much as bad as it's ever been. Kind of hard to get mad and leave when the person your mad at is right on your backside! LOL
I would still like to have a water life where I can go in the back yard and wade in a lake some day. I would like to travel more but at this stage of the game bones sure do hurt more when on the road very much. I would also like to have a more bigger nicer baking kitchen! LOL I don't know if that one will still happen but never know, sometime I might just get spoiled even more!

We still have some good years left and come hell or high water I still plan on showing everyone that

SPECIAL DAYS ARE A MUST IN LIFE !
