Donut Hole Tears

It all started thinking I haven't had a donut in a coons age. Sounds really good! Today we had to take Heidi Ho to the vet, to get her a shot for her arthritis. She gets this about every 4 months it makes life easier for her. Well there just happened to be a cute little donut shop up there in Stroud. I told hubby I can't resist, I got to, so I thought I would just go through the drive through. I noticed that we would have to wait in line. Well my goodness! They were really really busy. So Hubby, is always in a hurry, so I said I would go inside that would be quicker. Boy! That was a mistake! Naturally you go in and everything looks so good. I got hubby his one donut he said that he wanted just a plain glazed doughnut. And oh my goodness! There was a apple fritter! Then I look over in their kitchen area, and I see a bushel of donut holes. Nice round, glazed, donut holes.
Doughnut holes for me just opens up a whole Nother bushel of issues. When I had my store in town for tanning people. I would go next-door to the bakery and get Jon donut holes when they had it. Jon liked donut holes, so mama just had to do this every now and then and take him some donut holes.
Well not only did I get a apple fritter, I also got one dozen donut holes. I thought about sharing some with Nikki but I figured she would probably shoot me. She tries to avoid such wonderfully fattening things.
So with Heidi in the backseat after her trip to the vet hubby over in the passenger seat and me driving on the way home I enjoyed a donut hole or three or four. Each donut hole I shared in my heart with Jon. Such a sweet memory. But, it did bring tears to my eyes.
So! The best way to actually fix the sadness, is to totally go off the rails. When I got home I dived into the Apple fritter. I tried putting the apple fritter on a paper plate and using a fork trying to keep from making a sticky mess. A fork and a apple fritter, that just don't get it! So I thought I'll use a napkin hands-on but not messy, well, halfway through, I figured out it don't taste as good! So the other half I just got my fingers nice and sticky and made a mess everywhere and enjoyed all of it!
Tears disappeared, nice sweet smile back on the face. Now I guess I will have to wait another coons age before I go off the rails one more time with good old fashioned bakery donuts !
